William's birth was not registered but I have found an admission record for a primary school he attended.
School Register, Walton. Admission - 18 Aug 1900, Address - c/- John Portnell, Walton. Last s chool Attended - Rotorua. Last day - 13 Aug 1900. destination - Back home to Rotorua.

William Joseph Labrum, 6/1601 Gunner, NZFA, Died of disease Malta x Gallipoli, 2/12/15.
No parents were named on death cert. but I have found on the Internet at the Commonwealth War Graves site a memorial to William. This states his parents as being Mr and Mrs T A Labrum of Huntly.
In the Walton school re-union book, William is on the roll of honour and also at the Walton H all on the War Memorial.
