NAB MSCE 12/7 (1901) HELENA LUTKENS
Letter from Mrs J. A. Lütkens : -

272 Sydenham Road
Berea, Durban
4th June 1909

The Master of the Supreme Court
Maritzburg, Natal

Dear Sir,

I am writing you in great distress, as I do not know I can provide a home, education, &c. for my younger children. Since my elder son has forsaken us and will not assist me further in the maintenance of the younger members of the family. A certain legacy was left for the benefit of the children under certain conditions by their grandmother, and I would ask you if it be possible to allow something for their maintenance now, instead of waiting for the majority of my eldest child.

Kindly inform me what further steps I should take to attain this object.

Mr. C. G. Willson of Dundee is the trustee. I should like you to give this matter immediate attention as we are in great straits.

I have the honour to remain, dear Sir,

Yours faithfully,

J. A Lütkens.

I have omitted to mention that the bequest was made by Mrs. H. Lütkens, who died in 1901.
