[47697] in his notes, he describes the Galveston hurricane which hit Sept 8, 1900, and destroyed his crops in Bellville. He stated over 8000 dead.

He and his brothers started Burleigh Broom Factory in Bellville around 1902, which failed and went back to farming there. After marriage in 1907, he moved with his father-in-law to Knippa area in Uvalde county. Farming failed there for 3 yr, and he moved with my grandmother back to Bellville.

He moved to Travis County in between 1910 and 1920 censuses. It must have been close to 1920 since Willie was born in Austin County in 1918, but Eddie was born in Travis County in 1922.

Perhaps he had money from sale of land in Wallis, or had saved money from burying bodies in 1900.
