[3664] From:

Marian Elaine Flagg (née Gabel), died peacefully approaching the age of 98, on 10/13/2022. Marian was born on December 24, 1924, in Carlstadt, NJ to Anni Schreib Gabel and Richard Gabel. She spent her early years on a farm in south Jersey where her family weathered the Depression. She attended a one-room school and thrived as a student. She returned to Carlstadt and graduated from East Rutherford HS and began a career working at Prudential in Newark, NJ. In 1947, she married Arthur Flagg. Despite working, Marian took an active role in parenting her three children, Kurt, Scott, and Vicki, and was active in the Carlstadt community.

In her later years, Marian pursued her love of genealogy, tracing her German heritage. She had a wanderlust to see the world which included many trips to Europe, the Caribbean, and her favorite, the USA. Marian always loved a great family get-together, a party, dancing, reading, the latest fashions and a good poker game. She was a Ted Williams and avid Red Sox fan. She adored time spent every summer with family at Cape May Point. Marian was a warm and giving person who loved making friends. She was always a lover of animals and an advocate for their welfare. She was also an avid cook and baker.

Marian was predeceased by her husband Arthur Flagg, (1983) son Kurt, (2002) and his wife Cathy (2015), and her daughter Vicki (2004). Marian is survived by her beloved son Scott, and his wife, Janet; her grandchildren Julia Flagg and her husband Joseph Berenguel and Marian’s great-grandchildren Augusta and George Berenguel; Rachel Flagg Paradiso and her wife, Sarah; and Russell Flagg and his partner Yasmina Zaynoune. She is also survived by her cousins George Schreib, Evie Vasquez, Kathy Schreib Ford (god-daughter), and Pat Schreib Erickson and Ron Ericskon, all of NJ, and Dale Schultz and Debbi Broderick of ME.

Marian is also survived by many friends so close they are family: Marcy Baron Fearon and Peter Fearon and sons Dylan and Derek; Michael and Michele Supper and daughter Jen; Doris Wulff; Annemarie and John McConville.

[NF215] She maried on the same day as her father's birthday, 20 September.
Records that say 27 September are incorrect.
