Obituary
Canandaigua: Helen (Schreib) Harter, age 86, of Quail Summit and formerly of Bristol, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Serenity House in Victor. She is survived by two sons, Bruce (Deborah) Harter of Bristol and Keith (Jan) Harter of Canandaigua; four grandsons, Jeff Harter (fiance Amy Clark), Craig Harter, Brian (Kerry) Harter and Eric Harter; great-granddaughter, Jordan Harter; brother, Kenneth (Sylvia) Schreib of Florida; sister-in-law, Aliene (George) Payne of Clifton Springs; sister-in-law, Joann Harter of Canandaigua; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Julian E. "Jupe" Harter on January 23; and brother-in-law Carl W. Harter in 1995. Mrs. Harter was born in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada and was the daughter of August and Elma (Doty) Schreib. She was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 1943. Mrs. Harter worked at Rochester Products. From 1949 to 1951 she and her husband leased a general grocery store in Reed Corners. From 1951 to 1966, they owned and operated Harter's General Store on Baptist Hill in Bristol. Mrs. Harter was a member of the United Church of Bristol and the Bristol Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping. There will be no calling hours. Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18 at 11:00 am at the United Church of Bristol, 7177 County Road 2, Bloomfield (Town of Bristol). Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Bristol, 7177 Co. Rd. 2, Bloomfield, NY 14469, the Bristol Volunteer Fire Dept., 4350 Rte. 64, Canandaigua, NY 14424, or Serenity House, 1278 Brace Rd, Victor, NY 14564
