Ralph Charles Dwyer, a longtime resident of Lake Oswego, died June 19, 2010 while surrounded by family and friends at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 88.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1921 in Prospect, Mont. to Robert and Jane Dwyer, and he grew up in Seattle, Wash.
Mr. Dwyer served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and was discharged in 1945.
He married LaVerne Schreib in Seattle on Feb. 6, 1943. The couple moved to Lake Oswego in 1961 and lived there until 2005.
Mr. Dwyer was the founder and owner of Portland Gear Works until his retirement in 2005.
His hobbies included sailing, horseback riding and traveling the world with his wife. He also served on the board of the Lake Corporation during his residence in Lake Oswego.
He is survived by his daughters Diane Rosa of Lake Oswego; his daughter and son-in-law and Sherry and Will Rosenfeld of Banks, Ore.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Saint Michael the Archangel, 424 S.W. Mill St., Portland at noon. The interment will follow the service at River View Cemetery.
