CARL G. SCHREIB, 72, of the Dorchester section of Maurice River Township, died Friday at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Court House.
Mr. Schreib was president of the Millville Tool & Machine Co. Inc. in Port Elizabeth since December 1954. He taught at Paterson Vocational School from 1952 to 1954. He also taught at Cumberland County Vocational School for two years.
He took great pride in helping over 400 students through out the 40 years he was in business with jobs and furthering their education.
He was a member of Neptune Lodge 75 F & A. M. in Mauricetown, where he was the past master in 1966. He was also past grand lodge officer right worshipful sword bearer in 1975, past president of Past Master's Association 22nd Masonic District, a member Olivet Commandry 10 Eureka Richmond Chapter 18, and Triangle Council 10.
He was also a member of Consistory Scottish Rites of Collingswood, past president of Cresent Shrine in Trenton, past president of Port Norris Rotary Club and was instrumental in the organization of the Masonic section of Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville.
He was an organizer and past president of the Commercial Township Ambulance Corps and was active an active member for more than 11 years.
He was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Nabb Leslie Post 82 in Millville, and V.F.W. Post 3119 Schmidt Hoeger of Woodbridge. He was also a former Boy Scott Leader in Heisterville.
Born in Paterson, he moved to this area at the age of 17. He lived in Heislerville for 11 years, then moved to Mauricetown for 37 years and resided in Dorchester for the past five years.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Langley); two daughters, Kathryn Ford of Dorchester and Patricia Errickson of Haleyville; one brother, Otto Schreib of Paterson; two sisters, Paula Quinn of Whiting and Freda August of Flemington; one aunt; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main and Broad streets, Leesburg, with Mr. Schreib's nephew Rev. Kenneth Langley officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
