Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - April 15, 2006
Deceased Name: Velda DeEtte Metters Clough Labrum
UT United States
Velda DeEtte Metters Clough Labrum "Bubba" Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend left this life with quiet dignity on April 13, 2006 surrounded by her loving family. Velda was born April 3, 1917 to John and Harriet Metters. Married her beloved H.T. "Tom" Clough on November 30, 1935. On September 4, 2004 in the Salt Lake Temple Tom and Velda were sealed to each other and their family for time and eternity. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1966. She married Orin R. Labrum in 1967 with many happy years together. Mother of Richard (Karen), Ken (Vicki) and Marjorie. Through her second marriage she was also "mother" to Laurie (Chris) and Pat (Mike). Grandmother of 21 and great-grandmother of 30 with more to come. She was also like a mother to her guardian angel, niece Annette. Velda will always be remembered for her unselfish caring of family members. She had an open and generous heart and was special "Auntie Bubba" to many nieces and nephews. Her favorite times were in the beautiful Salt Lake Mountains at the cabin with special friends Myra and Ray, camping with her brothers and sisters, and in later years, the numerous card games with friends. She was especially lucky! The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the numerous doctors and nurses who provided her with care throughout her courageous health battles. A very special "Thank You" to all the staff at Care Source Hospice, whose angels provided comfort and dignity in her final days. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 17 at Noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday 11-11:45 prior to services. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
