After Jane Elizabeth Labrum died Alva said “his inspiration was now gone.” He remained alone for two years, and then married Emma Jane Finch on 28 May 1895. They had a son on 25 July 1997 but he does the same day. They adopted Beatrice Butler who was born 11 December 1899.

BURIAL: Murray City Cemetery plot number 02 034 8.

Following Alva's death, Emma Butler and her daughter, Beatrice, continued to live in Butlerville until Emma remarried. On 11/22/1917 Emma (Finch) Butler married Andrew Duncan Park, in Salt Lake City. Utah. She died January 30, 1930 in Salt Lake City and was buried in the Murray city cemetery
